Restoration and Repair
You will be surprised to see what we can do to even the worst looking floor! Most floors can be restored to better than new! Stains and damaged boards can be replaced and custom finishing can provide a unique, durable and beautiful floor!
Installation of Solid and Engineered Hardwood
A solid hardwood floor is not a floor covering, but a floor for a lifetime! With proper finishing and maintenance, a solid hardwood floor can last for many generations to come. Engineered hardwood flooring has its advantages too. Engineered technology has come a long way in the past decade. It is more dimensionally stable than solid wood and therefore performs better in high moisture situations. It is better suited for glue down and floating applications. With proper installation and care, an engineered floor can rival the longevity of a solid wood floor.
Domestic and Exotic Hardwood Species
There are many wood species to choose from for your hardwood flooring needs. Domestic hardwoods like Oak, Maple, Walnut and Hickory have been the staple species for many years. However, over the past decade, more and more exotic species like Brazilian Cherry, Australian Cypress and Santos Mahogany have become available and more affordable. These exotics tend to be much harder than our Domestics but they are also more light sensitive.
Oil-based, Water-based and Other Finishes
Wood flooring is typically finished using a polyurethane top coat to protect it from scratches and wear. There are two kinds of polyurethanes, oil-modifed and waterborne. Oil-modifed has been the staple finish for the past twenty years or more and is still the most used topcoat. Waterborne polyurethane is newer and it has become a better product in many circumstances. It dries faster, has less odor and in most cases, is more durable. It will become a standard in the next several years, espeicailly as it is considered the most environmentally friendly. Other finishes such as, Tung Oil, Hardening Oil, Swedish Finish, Wax, Shellac and Moisture Cure are also available.
Custom Borders, Inlays and Medallions
For those who want a unique look or just something a little extra, custom borders, inlays and medallions are available. Whether it is a walnut feature strip in your dining room, inlays at each doorway or a compass designating North in your foyer, we can help you design and create your special floor.
Maintenance Programs
A properly installed prefinished or site finished hardwood floor should last a lifetime. However, how you care for your floors makes a huge difference. We offer the correct cleaning supplies for your floors and offer a maintenance program to re-coat worn floors before they have to be re-sanded.
Design and Consulting
Not everyone knows exactly what they want for their hardwood floors. Whether you have questions about solid or engineered, prefinsihed vs. site finished, the species, type of finish, or even if the floors should go in the kitchen (great place for wood by the way) we can help you with your decisions. We have the experience, knowledge and love for hardwood floors that will help you find the right floor for you and your family.
Insurance Claims
Unfortunately, accidents happen and wood flooring becomes damaged. But before you rip it out, call us! Often the existing damaged hardwood can be salvaged. Either way, we can work up an insurance quote for everything related to the incident as it relates to your hardwood flooring. Our goal is to get you your wood floors back and in better condition than before the accident!
Certified Inspections
The National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA) has a certified professionals certification for wood flooring inspectors. It is designed to establish a standard for wood flooring inspections that is based on facts and not on opinions. We have a certified wood flooring inspector on staff. If you have a problem with your wood floors, and are in dispute with another party, we can help by testing and reporting on the facts in an unbiased manner.
